Transport: hydrofoil Full day excursion The island of Mljet, which the Greeks called Melita (honey island ), is one of the most beautiful and most wooded Croatian islands. The western part of the island, which we will visit, has been proclaimed a national park in order to preserve its Aleppo pine and cypress forests. The highlights of the island are two salt water lakes, Malo and Veliko Jezero, which are connected by a channel. We will take a short boat ride to the islet situated in the middle of Veliko Jezero (the Big lake) where the Benedictine monastery and the church of Saint Mary from the 12th-century are situated.
